Nothing like a backyard New Orleans wedding to just give me all the homey feels, and Kate + Shannon’s wedding is just that. Kate is a phenomenal wedding planner herself over at Gabrielle James, so when it came time to put together her own day a unique feel was a must.
This historic home in the Irish Channel was just perfect, don’t you think? Kate started her morning getting all glammed up and then hopped outside for a few portraits with everyone’s favorite VW bus, Buttercup.
Come ceremony time, guests were welcomed with icy cold Miller High Life and a seat in the shade.
Everyone cracked up when the flower girl started walking down the aisle. Instead of a cute five year old, one of Kate + Shannon’s good friends paraded down the aisle, sprinkled petals in his flower patterned blazer.
During her rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding, Kate was itching for a baby goat at the reception but she kept going back and forth on whether or not it was a good idea. Would all the beautiful florals be safe from becoming a baby goat snack? After a few drinks, she decided to just go for it and called up a friend. Violá! A goat appeared the next day and right after tying the knot, Kate scooped up the sweet little thing and brought it along for photos!
Buttercup the VW bus served as the reception transportation and carted Kate + Shannon off to the party at Cure. Mixed drinks abounded and Popeyes fried chicken was a huge hit when it appeared for a late night snack. A baby goat and a backyard New Orleans wedding? Sign me up, anytime.
