A hot day didn’t affect this summer French Quarter wedding. Jaquita and Carlton gathered with 80 of their nearest and dearest to celebrate this thing called love. (If this beautiful event looks familiar, you probably saw it on Martha Stewart Weddings!) With Art Deco mixed with tropical vibes, this day was so dang beautiful. The two spent the morning getting ready at separate airbnbs. I absolutely love that Jaquita did her own hair and makeup for the big day so she truly felt like herself. Every person should strive for that feeling on their wedding! Jaquita’s grand reveal with her dad was such a highlight. Friends and family cheered them on as they hopped onto a bike taxi and headed over to Hermann-Grima House to get Jaquita married. Never without flair, Jaquita fiercely strutted down the aisle solo to the Muppet’s “Somebody’s Getting Married.” Jaquita’s dad officiated the wedding, adding an intimate element to the whole ceremony. These two wanted a simple event just focused on family. Jaquita’s grandmother had recently kicked cancer which made this day even more special for the whole group. Carlton described it as if Jaquita’s grandmother “willed her way through cancer ” because she wanted to make it to the wedding. Despite the fact that she hadn’t been on a plane in years, her grandmother braved travel to attend the wedding. This was a day to remember for family, especially considering that Jaquita’s grandmother passed away shortly afterwards. Jaquita and Carlton weren’t always head over heels for each other, despite the fact that they played a couple for theater class back in college at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. It took several years and a move across the country before Jaquita and Carlton finally connected again and this time, for good. It’s clear they’re absolutely perfect for one another. What a magical day for this summer French Quarter wedding! P.S. Another French Quarter wedding here.
