When two music buffs get engaged at the epic Red Rocks Amphitheater, it stands to reason that they would have a Music Box Village wedding with allll the festival vibes here in New Orleans. An interactive venue where you can climb, play, and make music with funky instruments all over the property, it was seriously perfect for Kristi and Austin’s wedding day. I’m totally in love with their entire wedding vibe and Kristi’s bouquet by Nola Flora was the perfect “bridal meet festival” look!
In the morning, both couples got ready at an airbnb in the French Quarter. The girls enjoyed purple drink daiquiris from Lafitte’s Blacksmith shop on the lower level and the boys hung out on the third story. Surrounded by their close friends and family, each enjoyed a relaxed morning getting dressed and anticipating the festivities ahead.
Although they were having a non-traditional wedding, Kristi and Austin didn’t want to see one another before Kristi walked down the aisle so we snapped this portrait instead with tourists cheering them on.
Kristi arrived at Music Box Village in a yellow VW aptly named, “Buttercup”. Stepping out of the bus and into her the arms of her mom and dad, there wasn’t a dry eye in the house when Kristi walked down the aisle. Austin’s sister and brother-in-law officiated the ceremony, leaving everyone in stitches (and more tears!) as they shared heartfelt stories about the couple. At the end, Beastie Boys blared as Kristi and Alex were pronounced husband and wife and the PARTY GOT STARTED.
(This drum kit inside the bird cage was one of my fave aspects of this venue. The guests loved it too!)
With DJ Yes Kate Yes at the party helm and glow sticks, face painting, and a myriad of instruments all over the property, it truly felt like a Music Box Village wedding festival dream come true, don’t you think?
P.S. Check out another quirky and untraditional wedding here.
