This Moody Pharmacy Museum wedding might look a little familiar if you’re a fan of Green Wedding Shoes. Nadia + Sern’s unique day was showcased there and it’s high time I highlight it here as well! A destination wedding with only nine guests, this wedding is the very definition of intimate and once you scroll through, I can promise you’ll suddenly start craving getting married with only your best friends surrounding you.
Nadia is a true rockstar, she planned this wedding from start to finish in under three months while working a busy charter schedule (16+ hours a day) on a yacht in the Caribbean with terrible satellite wifi, no weekends, and her last charter ended with a 15 hour passage by sea and 36 hours to spare before the flight to NOLA.
Nadia had trouble envisioning herself getting married in white because she was always happiest in black, with the occasional streak of red. When Sern proposed with a black diamond, Nadia knew there were no holds barred when it came to her own twist on wedding colors. She immediately fell in love with this black tulle dream dress from Sweet Caroline Styles and funky red shoes and the rest was history. Sern dressed all in black as well, with a red bowtie made from guinea fowl feathers for his own red streak.
Starting with a brief, funny, joyful, and non-religious ceremony by LaToya of Waning Moon, Nadia + Sern were married in the courtyard of the Pharmacy Museum.
Black Pearl Catering provided the most delicious oysters, champagne, and a cake (made of cheese!) for this little party squad. Sern wasn’t a fan of desserts and Nadia only has eyes for cheese so a non-traditional cake it was!
It is well known among their friends that Sern does not dance. However, passing a lone trumpet player casually leaning on the dimly-lit sidewalk, the best man thought fast and asked him for a tune. He suggested “something New Orleans?” and proceeded with a sultry solo. Nadia + Sern did indeed dance and they still don’t know what the song was.
